Graeme and Helen live on the farm; their sons are now the 3rd generation. Gerald manages the farm. Mark has a shearing contracting business run from Invercargill, and their daughter Sandra is in charge of his office.

The 1500 acre working farm has cows, calves, beef cattle, dog and hens. Guests may interact with the animals.

Graeme will give you a farm tour and answer any questions you might have.

We grow our own vegetables and there are always home baked muffins to sample.

Evening meals are available, with self-service from the table. Breakfast is a hearty farm breakfast and desserts are a speciality.

When visiting Long Acres, you may see the following farming work taking place:

  • 1100 cows are milked twice a day in the 54 Rotary cowshed.
  • August, September, October - Calving time on the farm, where the heifer calves are ear tagged, recorded and reared as replacements. Beef calves are reared for sale.
  • November, December, January - All agriculture work commences. The farm tractor work is winter feed crops and new grass paddocks. Farm maintenance is always ongoing.

Long Acres Farmstay is a kiwi farming experience you won’t forget.
